Over 532,000 international students and scholars from around the world are studying in American universities and colleges. They are their countries's brightest and best -future leaders who will shape the world of tomorrow. An estimated 40% of the world's future leaders are studying in the US right now.
- Trends
1. Students from Asian countries make up the largest group of students in the U.S. In recent years, however, there is sign of that number leveling off.
2. China has the most students of the Asian group.
3. The increase of Russian students is a result of new US government exchange program.
4. The number of foreign students from Africa, South and Central America, as well as Middle has dramatically dropped in the last several year because of economic hardship.
